We’re pleased that grab hire is an increasingly popular waste management option that both businesses and individuals in Sheerness, one of our core areas of coverage, are taking advantage of. It’s also a particularly strong option when you require muckaway, hardcore removal or tarmac removal – usually during or following on from construction, excavation, or landscaping work. Below, we explain why, and why it’s also a vital tool when providing aggregates or road planings for work on utilities, and when serving as the Kent and Medway areas’ favoured topsoil suppliers.
Firstly, grab hire is an incredibly efficient and cost-effective means of going about muckaway. With traditional skip hire you need to manually load waste materials. Grab hire bypasses this by employing its hydraulic arm to scoop up waste and swiftly deposit it in its truck bed, capable of holding 16 tonnes of material. This means that the amount of labour involved in muckaway, hardcore removal and tarmac removal on Sheerness sites is drastically reduced. Similarly, the amount of time and on-site labour needed to load and unload aggregates, road planings, and materials sourced from us as your local topsoil suppliers, is kept to a minimum.
Another argument for grab hire, and one that comes as a surprise to many of our Sheerness clients, is that it can be significantly cheaper than skip hire. There are a number for this. Firstly, often you need a number of large skips, which then need to be transported and replaced once full, incurring additional charges due to their lesser capacity. Add on the cost of applying skip permits, and the cost effectiveness of grab hire for muckaway, hardcore removal, tarmac removal and delivery of aggregates / road planings becomes increasingly clear.
But let’s keep going! Grab hire is also a more versatile means of going about these services. The vehicles in our fleet – despite the amount they can take in their stride – are typically more manoeuvrable than skip truck. This allows them to access sites around Sheerness that may be difficult for skip trucks to access. When is this most crucial? When providing muckaway, or serving as topsoil suppliers on smaller, residential landscaping and utilities installation projects that may be located in tight, narrow spaces.
This versatility is also attributable to the many ways in which their hydraulic arms can be used to quickly and safely access from even difficult-to-reach areas such as behind buildings or on slopes. While grab hire is ideal for straight forward hardcore removal and tarmac removal jobs around Sheerness, and for delivering aggregates and road planings, the more complex a site, the more present environmental challenges, the more it comes into its own.
If you’re not already convinced of its merits, know that grab hire offers a more convenient and hassle-free option for muckaway, even on the logistical side of things. When you opt for skip hire, you have to arrange delivery and collection of the skip, and often have to wait until a company has an available slot to get this done. This can be time-consuming and requires careful coordination to ensure that the skip is collected promptly. However, as grab hire is “wait-and-load”, everything is taken care for you right there and then on the spot. You’ve overcome the possibility of a skip sitting around a Sheerness site, interrupting work.
